Professor Ross Rinaldi is joining us till the end of the year as part of the prestigious "Saxon Guest Professor" program. Professor Rinaldi, a renowned expert in condensed matter physics from the University of Salento in Lecce, will add her extensive knowledge and research to our university for several months.

Lectures in Nanoscience and Collaborative Initiatives
During her stay, Professor Rinaldi will deliver a series of lectures focusing on the application of nanoscience to life sciences. These lectures will be particularly beneficial for the staff of TUD, as well as students enrolled in the international Master's programs in Nanobiophysics, Organic Molecular Electronics, and Nanoelectronic Systems.

Impressive Academic and Professional Achievements
Professor Rinaldi has been a pivotal figure at the University of Salento since 2006, serving as the Rector's delegate for research results exploitation and technology transfer, and heading the Research Laboratory in Nanomedicine, Nanobiotechnology, and Nanobioelectronics. Additionally, she oversees the BIO OPEN LAB Facility, part of the European infrastructure CERIC-ERIC.

Her illustrious career includes over 320 publications in international journals, more than ten monographs, and eleven patents, the latest in collaboration with Prof. Cuniberti’s group and the Italian Institute of Technology. Her accolades include the 1993 Italian Physical Society prize for best young researcher, the 2005 "Le Scienze" medal, the President of the Italian Republic medal for achievements in nanobiotechnology, and the 2016 ITWIIN High Education prize.

Collaboration with Dr. Mariafrancesca Cascione
Joining Professor Rinaldi’s team is Dr. Mariafrancesca Cascione, who earned her PhD in Physics in 2016. Dr. Cascione has conducted significant research at the University of Bari and is currently a researcher at the University of Salento’s Department of Mathematics and Physics "Ennio De Giorgi". Her research focuses on the characterization of changes in cellular morpho-mechanical properties in vitro, using advanced force spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques. Additionally, she explores the tribological and mechanical properties of composite materials in nanomedicine and agrifood sectors.
Dr. Cascione collaborates with leading scientific institutions, including BOKU University of Vienna, the IBEC institute in Barcelona, the University of Gdańsk, and the University of Chandigarh. She has authored over 50 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and serves on the editorial board of two prominent scientific journals.

We look forward to the invaluable contributions that Professor Rinaldi and Dr. Cascione will bring to our academic community and are excited about the collaborative opportunities their presence will foster.
