On May 13th, the new data center of the Lehmann Center and the second-stage of the high performance computing center (HRSK-II) will be inaugurated. The ceremonial event will take place at the department of computer science, room E023.In addition to a technical talk about the innovative building-specific details of the data center, the colloquium will cover the challenges of high performance computing from a computer science standpoint and from the perspective of user's research with a number of interesting presentations. The event will start with talks given by Stanislaw Tillich, minister president of Saxony, Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka, Federal Minister for Education and Research, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, president of TU Dresden, Hansjörg König, Secretary of State Saxony, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nagel, Director of ZIH and Prof. Dr. Arndt Bode from TU Munich.
Subsequent to the ceremony, a colloquium will take place with presentations of important key users of our HPC-systems and partners in different research activities will provide interesting insight into the topic and new impulses for future cooperation. Amongst others, Prof. Dr. Cuniberti addresses the role and possibilities as well as the needs and expectations towards high performance computing for his scientific research in the presentation "A Lab inside the cluster: the unlimited possibilities of computational materials design".
