Prof. Giri (Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, India) is visiting us in the framework of the DAAD-IIT Faculty Exchange Program. During this stay he will be at our Institute in June and July 2010.


laudatio:


Prof. Giri obtained his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1997 and then he moved to Italy for a postdoc in CNR-IMM, Catania and worked there till July 1999. In August 1999, he joined Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, India as a Scientific Officer. Later, he joined Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati as an Assistant Professor of Physics in 2001 and presently he is an Associate Professor of Physics and Centre for Nanotechnology at IIT Guwahati. His research interests are Semiconductor Nanostrctures, Carbon nanotubes, Defect engineering, dilute magnetic semiconductors etc.
