Vyacheslav studied chemical engineering and computer chemistry at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (NTUU "KPI") from 1989 to 1995. He got his Diploma on the "modeling of the oscillating chemical reactions" with Prof. Gregory Yablonsky. For his PhD he went to the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Kiev (Ukraine) in 1995 and worked in the group of Prof. Peter Strizhak. There, he primarily experimentally worked on properties and application of oscillating chemical reaction near bifurcation points, far-from-equilibrium nonlinear chemical systems and modeling of their kinetics. In 1999, after defending his PhD thesis, he continued his work in the group of Prof. P. Strizhak on the application of tubular carbon nanostructures in heterogeneous catalysis. From October 2009 to April 2013 he was a scientific researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW-Dresden). There he worked with Dr. Albrecht Leonhardt on the development of chemical vapor deposition methods for synthesis of tailor-made carbon nanostructures.
In January 2014 Vyacheslav joined the group of Prof. Cuniberti. He plans to work experimentally on the methods for chemical functionalization and doping of carbon nanostructures as components of thermoelectric devices and biosensors.
